Many classrooms, offices and other businesses use wall coverings to brighten up their workplace and make them seem much more inviting to visitors. They can be made out of a variety of materials (including: vinyl, cloth, paint, timber, and many more), allowing you to get the best match for your décor. If you have noticed your coverings growing a little dirty and dull lately, however, you can restore their luster with a simple clean:
Step 1: Using the hose attachment for your vacuum cleaner, run the nozzle over the walls to pick up any dust or cobwebs that may have accumulated since your last cleaning spree.
Step 2: If your wall coverings are washable (keep in mind that not all are, especially wallpaper), fill a bucket with water and add about a teaspoon of powdered laundry detergent. Dip a sponge into the solution, wring out any excess water and use it to wipe the walls in small, circular motions.
Step 3: Leave the coverings to dry at least overnight and test them by feeling if they are dry to the touch before replacing any calendars, photo frames and other items that had been tacked to the wall.
Don’t become one of those people who notice their wall coverings growing increasingly dirty but do nothing about it – after learning that it is possible to clean them, you no longer have any excuses. If your coverings are not suitable for washing with water and vacuuming them hasn’t completely worked, you could also try gently wiping them with a barely damp cloth to see if there is any improvement.
