What kind of whiteboards do we make?
Whiteboards R Us have a range of surfaces to choose from.
Vitreous Enamel (Porcelain/Ceramic).
This surface is glass baked onto steel (magnetic). Being a glass surface, it will not scratch, and glass being nonporous, markers will not “bleed” below the surface, which means that it is easier to clean and it is far more durable.
We offer two types of Vitreous Porcelain Enamel:
946 HIGH GLOSS
High Gloss is recommended for writability/erasability applications (minor projections).
&
937 LOW GLOSS.
Low Gloss is predominantly used for projection applications (with minority writability/erasability).
Acrylic.
The Acrylic face material used by Whiteboards R Us is a surface that is pre-painted. It is coated in a similar way to colour bond steel.
As a pre-painted surface, it is therefore slightly porous and as such whiteboard markers tend to ‘bleed” below the surface. This is not a problem, but it means the board will require much more cleaning.
If written information is left on the surface for extended periods it will leave a ghost residue.
If this surface is used in a large organisation and no regular maintenance is given to the board, eventually the surface begins to stain heavily and will not clean thereafter.
This surface is recommended for small office environments where there are one or two people responsible for the care of the board and low usage. As the Acrylic sheet is a more cost effective offer, we generally only use it to apply printed skins over the top of this surface.

Chalkboard/Blackboards
We provide a Ceramic blackboard surface. This surface is glass baked onto steel and has a dark green surface. Being a glass surface, it will not wear, and it is also magnetic as it is a steel based surface.
This surface is typically used in schools. Blackboards are preferable over whiteboards for drawings or designs as blackboards are better for colouring and shading.

There are 2 methods in which to achieve a design on a whiteboard, and still retain the typical properties of a whiteboard.
1/. Laser engraving
2/. Digital print
Laser engraving
This process can only be done on the vitreous enamel surface, and can only be one colour (black).
The image would be etched into the surface. Bold text and logos Etc. can be reproduced as an outline or solid. The thickness of the lines can be as thin as 0.40mm
As this process involves etching into the whiteboard surface, once the image is etched, it cannot be removed. We can create music stave whiteboards for music classes and term or year planners for use in staff rooms
Digital print
This process achieves a full colour print, and the design is printed onto white vinyl sheet, a laminate of dry erase film is applied over the top of the digital print, and this is then laminated to the whiteboard surface. The dry erase film turns the digital print back to a surface where whiteboard markers can be used and removed, but the surface has similar properties to that of the standard acrylic writing surface, so care must be taken when cleaning this surface.
It is best to laminate the digital print onto acrylic whiteboard surface, as it is cheaper.

Pinboards
Another great communication tool used throughout Schools, Universities, and offices alike, is a Pinboard. Whiteboards R Us offer a large range of colours that are laminated to a polyester inner core, that are Velcro receptive and pin-able. They are available in different formats, Framed (Standard Frame, Slim Line Framed) Wrapped.
Forbo Bulletin Board/Pinboards are also available.
